HISTORY OF SCOTTISH MAID SCHOONER: A BRITISH TRADING SHIP Discover the Scottish Maid schooner, wooden model of this beautiful ship whose purpose was to compete with the steamships on the trading race between Abredeen and London. Built in 1839 by Alexander Hall and Company, the design of the Scottish Maid was influenced by the regulation of the era concerning taxes and fees for its measures and displacement. The result was a slender helmet and sharp bow, which together with a large surface of the canopy allowed a faster navigation even with heavy loads. The Scottish Maid regularly spent about 49 hours on the journey between Aberdeen and London, and its design was widely reproduced. SCOTTISH MAID WOODEN SCHOONER MODELING KIT Build your 1:50 wooden modeling kit of the Scottish Maid, a beautiful 19th century schooner. Its system of construction by means of false keel and frames approaches the assembly of the model to the construction of the real ship. Once it is built, Scottish Maid model ship measures 26.37'' (670mm) length, 18.11'' (460mm) height and 9.44'' (240mm) width. The Scottish Maid scale replica contains high precision laser cut board, wood, brass, cast iron and raw cotton sails. For the assembly you will be able to follow our complete guide step-by-step in 4 languages and in full color, accompanied by the drawings of the finalized wooden model, both of them on DVD format. The ship model does not include printed instructions.
